Friday Night Lights
Well it is almost time again to get your black and gold on. The Santa Anna Mountaineers will be taking on the May Tigers at Mountaineer Stadium Friday night at 7:30 PM. We hope to see ya there!

Santa Anna Competes by Coach Bob Libby
On Tuesday, August 24, the Santa Anna varsity and junior varsity girls visited the Mullin gym. In an unusual setup, the varsity girls played first against Mullin. In game one, Mullin was dominated by a 25-7 score. Game two was a repeat as the Lady SAM girls won by a 25-19 count. Mullin came back in game three with a 25-15 victory over the Lady Mountaineers. Santa regained its composure and defeated Mulllin by a 25-10 match score.
The junior varsity girls played Texas Youth Commission and started out real slow. However, they were able to regroup and defeated TYC in two games by a score of 25-12 and 25-10.
The varsity girls went the Abilene Christian tournament on Saturday and played against some traditional powerhouse volleyball teams such as Bronte, Albany and Woodson. This tournament's format was done in pool play. Essentially each match consisted of two games to fifteen points and victories were decided on total amount of points scored. In the early morning game the Lady SAM girls took a 13-9 lead over Albany but could not finish them off losing 13-15. The girls could not regain any momentum and lost game two 6-15.
The Woodson game was almost an exact duplicate of the Albany game. Santa Anna led 14-11 and let it slip away losing to the Cowgirls 14-16. Santa Anna did play much better in the second game as compared to the Albany game, but lost 10-15.
The final game for the Lady Mountaineers was against district rival Bronte. In the first game Santa Anna played nearly flawless ball beating up on Bronte 15-6. In game two Bronte played better and won that game 15-13 on behalf of some mental Lady Mountaineer miscues at the end. Santa Anna's season record is now 5-5.

The Mountaineer Varsity Football team played the Abilene Christian Panthers in Mountaineer Stadium on Friday and came out on top 30 to 22.
