In service to our country
You know sometimes it really doesn't hit you until it is personal.
I got to visit briefly with Clay Hubbard at the Homecoming Pep Rally this past Friday. He is fixing to ship out to the Pacific this next week. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Clay and wish him well.
Eddie Dawson, Ike Garza, Clay Hubbard, James Watson, Austin Voss, Randy Casey, Mike Montgomery II, Mark Rutherford, and Allen Tucker. I hope that I have not made a mistake or left someone off the listing of these men from Santa Anna who are serving our country. If I have it is because I have only received a few e-mails regarding those from Santa Anna in service to our country. So this short list is my best effort.
1089 American soldiers or sailors have died in Operation Enduring Freedom as reported by the Department of Defense and the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count. Pray for our country, our leaders, and our soldiers and sailors.

Friday Night Lights
The Santa Anna Varsity Mountaineers came out on top of the Novice Hornets this last Friday in Santa Anna's Homecoming. The Mountaineers never let the Hornets in the game which ended shortly after halftime with a score of 46-0. The football game pictures are on the Sports Page. The win moved the Mountaineers up to 28th place in the SixManFootball.com rankings.
The Mountaineers are picked to win this Friday against some more Hornets playing Rochelle at Rochelle, but the Mountaineers are still gonna need lots of support so bring your Black and Gold and we'll see ya at the game!
Santa Anna Lady Mountaineer Volleyball
Sorry but no volleyball news from Coach Libby yet, but I do have some game photos from this past weeks' games with Miles and Sterling City.. and even some shots of the JV on the Sports page.
The girls have been playing some really close games but somehow keep coming up short. The crowds have been thinning out at the last few games and we even had to get some folks from Sterling City to run the clock and keep the books in last Saturday's game. A schedule change to the same time as the Ex Student Association meeting left the home crowd short. The game had originally been scheduled for the afternoon but was changed to the morning so that the Sterling City folks could attend Marching Band Contest.
Santa Anna High School Homecoming 2004
Just in case you missed the Tailgate Party on Thursday, Friday's Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally in downtown Santa Anna, the Pregame, or the Halftime ceremonies or maybe you were there and want to see it again I have made a SantaAnnaNews.com
Special Homecoming 2004 page.
The football game pictures are on the Sports Page.
The weather held off for the football game and the Homecoming activities as well and it was a perfect night for six man football .
The pre-game ceremonies recognized John Casey of Coleman as Coming Home King from the Class of 1984 and he was escorted by his wife Tammy.
The game saw the Santa Anna Mountaineers win over the Novice Hornets ending with a score of 46 - 0 shortly after the halftime activites.
The halftime show featured the crowning of the 2004 SAHS Homecoming Queen which was Lexi Deleon.
Saturday's Santa Anna Ex Student Association annual Business Meeting and recognition of classes was well attended.
Several asked if they could send me class reunion reports and photos for posting and the answer is certainly and the address is news@santaannanews.com.
It's not really news, but it means something to me because Wednesday SantaAnnaNews.com went over 2000 hits on the Front Page. There have been a couple of days in the last month when we went over 200 page views per day on the site and the average pages viewed per visitor is almost two. Some are searching for it but the search engines haven't really caught on yet and I really can't afford to pay them for ranking. I figure the best way is for you, the readers, to tell others and that is part of what this is all about. All these statistics kind of tell me you are at least getting some use out of this site.
Many of you have sent e-mails and many of you have told me in person how much you are enjoying the site. I would like to once again say thanks for coming by SantaAnnaNews.com and come back soon!
