Merry Christmas!
As Christmas will soon be here I am reminded of those that are less fortunate. Those that are suffering from the loss of a loved one, those that are suffering from illness, and those that just having a hard time getting through life.
With all the hurricanes and related destruction and the war and all it's associated tradgedies there are many people that are suffering from one thing or another.
I am also reminded how lucky I am to have most of my family and Cindy's family in good health and out of danger. I hope that whatever your circumstance is that you and yours can enjoy the holidays.
Merry Christmas from the Peltons and SantaAnnaNews.com.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Submitted by Tom Guthrie
A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Santa Anna beginning at 6:00 p.m. and lasting about an hour. This service is a special way to celebrate the birth of Jesus and reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. There will be singing of Christmas carols and the telling of the Christmas story as it is told in the Bible. It will conclude with candelights. If you are looking for something to do on Christmas Eve, please come on out. Everyone is invited. This is a special way to spend Christmas with your family.
Santa Anna Elementary Third Grade Class
This photo of Mrs. Greenlee's Third Grade Class was submitted by Pat Smith who has been volunteering for the class since she retired five years ago. Mrs. Smith is no stranger to the Santa Anna ISD as she has worked as a Teacher's Aide and Elementary Secretary for 26 years. Her husband, RC Smith, also retired after 35 years of service as a Coach, Elementary and High School Principal, Superintendent, and Tennis Coach.
The last four years they have traveled to the Valley where she picks up the fronds from the palm trees. She then cleans and sprays them for the class to make reindeer out of. Pretty nifty don't you think?
Lady Mountaineer and Mountaineer Basketball at Panther Creek
The Lady Mountaineers and Mountaineers traveled to Panther Creek Monday night to take on the Panthers in a District Basketball match up. Both Santa Anna teams led the games most of the way only to see a tough Panther Creek Panther rally to make it a fight to the finish. The Lady Mountaineers battled to a 43-39 victory while the boys game came down to the buzzer 39-38. See some of the game photos below and albums on the Sports Page.

Children's Christian Daycare
This photo submitted by Stephanie Dane is from when Tigger was supposed to come and visit the Children's Christian Daycare and talk about safety. He got stuck at another daycare and didn't make it, but the kids still had a blast!
Christmas Turkeys Come to Town
Well it is not just Santa that has come to town. There are a pair of Turkeys that have made their selves at home in downtown Santa Anna.
Thanks to Judy Meister for submitting these photos taken by Ellen West in front of That Santa Anna Store.
As SantaAnnaNews.com continues to grow and as I add more and more sports and event photos, I have worried about how I was going to afford more web space in order to not have to remove some of the archived pages. I had expected to have to remove some or redo some things because I was quickly approaching my space limits. I had recently thought about selling advertising and even maybe charging to view the archives like the Brownwood newspaper does for their website archives. I really didn't want to have to do either. Well now I no longer have to as my chosen web host, 1&1, came through for me again and doubled the amount of web space that I have. This is the second time that they have done this in the last year. Thanks to 1&1 I don't have to worry about all that and can concentrate and bringing you stories about folks from Santa Anna!
If you are interested in getting your own website and not sure where to start just send an e-mail to news@santaannanews.com and I will get you started in the right direction.
The details of 1&1's changes are in this recent press release:1&1 Again Increases Features of Hosting Packages, Maintains Prices
Adds Web Space, Traffic, Mailboxes and New Webmail at Same Prices
PHILADELPHIA, December 19, 2005
Issuing the latest salvo in its ongoing bid to remain the uncontested champion of Web hosting value, 1&1 Internet, Inc., has announced that it will again increase the standard features of its shared hosting packages while maintaining current pricing structures.
Effective immediately, 1&1 customers will benefit from additional Web space, traffic and mailboxes, plus a new Webmail tool. Linux packages will also receive database increases. The move is the latest in a series of package enhancements 1&1 has implemented in recent weeks to further establish itself as the industry leader in providing customers with maximum value at minimal cost.
Since we began our aggressive campaign to offer the most value for the money, the industry has clearly responded, which is good for competition and great for end-users, said 1&1 Chairman Andreas Gauger. But we’re quite confident that our latest round of enhancements will leave no doubt about where the best values in Web hosting can be found. Some of the features we are now making standard, our competitors charge almost double the price for.
Following is an overview of the new features as they affect 1&1’s Beginner, Home, Business and Developer packages:
Beginner: Web space from 1000 MB to 5000 MB; traffic from 50 GB to 250 GB; email accounts from 150 to 500 and database (Linux only) from 1 mySQL to 10 mySQL.
Home: Web space from 5000 MB to 10000 MB; traffic from 250 GB to 500 GB; email accounts from 500 to 1000 and database (Linux only) from 10 mySQL to 25 mySQL
Business: Web space from 1000 MB to 20000 MB; traffic from 500 GB to 1000 GB; email accounts from 1000 to 2000 and database (Linux only) from 25 mySQL to 50 mySQL
Developer: Web space from 20000 MB to 30000 MB; traffic from 1000 GB to 1500 GB; email accounts from 2000 to 3000 and database (Linux only) from 50 mySQL to 100 mySQL
In addition to the latest enhancements, 1&1’s in-house team of over 150 developers continues to improve existing packages features, the latest being an upgraded WebMail product available with each of the above plans. Designed in direct response to customer requests, the new WebMail tool gives users more power and versatility to send, receive and manage email from any Internet-connected computer at any time, anywhere. With 2 GB email capacity and now able to support the IMAP protocol, 1&1 WebMail offers users the ability to create and access various folders through which they can maintain greater control and organization of email. Other new features include the addition of an address book, the ability to send email in HTML or text format, a WYSIWYG text editor, and an email signature option.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town and other Weekend Happenings..
Well I saw it with my own eyes.. Santa Claus was right here in Santa Anna Friday and Saturday night! He was at the home of Santa Anna Mayor Jean and Ray Findley's house on North Eighth Street, also known as North Pole Street this time of year.
I have been especially good this year and got to talk to old Santa a little and he let me in on some inside info. Just in case you missed him he told me he is going to be back in Santa Anna at the Santa Anna National Bank on December 22nd and the Findley's again on the 23rd from 6:30 to 8:30.
Santa is making his list so if you have been as good as I have you better make your list of what you want so you can tell him when he comes to see us. I would bet you could get your picture made with him too!
Cindy and I also got to go downtown before the basketball games on Friday for the Wine Tasting at Sunnie's and some visiting with other folks at the downtown businesses. It was a pretty light crowd but with the cold and damp weather on Friday it sure made them turnout on Saturday night. There was not hardly a place to park!
Most of the downtown businesses laid out the red carpet with refreshments, including this table of treats at Gary Patterson's Coleman County Woodshop.
The Lady Mountaineers and Mountaineers both won their games over Novice and the JV Girls beat the Brownwood State School team. See the game photos below and albums on the Sports Page. The Mountaineers will travel to Panther Creek Monday Night of the nineteenth for some Holiday basketball action.
Saturday we enjoyed visiting at two different family Christmas's including my Mom's. Several of us enjoyed the Tour of Homes which appeared to be a great success.
The Tour of Homes was sponsored by the Santa Anna Self Culture Club and benefited the Santa Anna Public Library. The Tour included the homes of Vic Kysor Sr, Russell and Louann Fisher, Ora Beth McIver, Richard (Dickie) and Gail Horner, Oma Dean Horner, and Ray and Jean Findley. The homeowners all said they didn't mind if I took a few pictures so I have put them together in a Special Tour of Homes photo album.
