Sometimes life happens...
In November I went to the State Marching Contest in San Antonio and took a lot of pictures and realized I had never uploaded them to the news. I also found a bunch of other pictures that never got uploaded.
Here is the original story and some of my favorites below:
The Santa Anna Mountaineer made it to the Final Round along with six other bands in the Class 1A 2017 State Marching Band Championships held at the Alamodome in San Antonio Monday November 6th, 2017.
In the Prelims Santa Anna marched against Ropes, Rotan, Nueces Canyon, White Deer, Bronte, Booker, Whiteface, Cross Plains, Springlake-Earth, Water Valley, May, Eden, and Throckmorton.
Santa Anna marched first in the Finals followed by a really big Whiteface band that eventually won the contest. Santa Anna finished in seventh place. Way to go Mountaineer Band, we are proud of you!

First Annual Bobby Morgan Memorial Rib Throw Down
and Steak Cook Off and Scholarship Fundraiser
Saturday, April 14, 2018
On Saturday April 14th, 15 Santa Anna cookers, their friends, and families joined together at the Santa Anna Park and Armory to have fun, cook some good food, and raise over $5000 for a scholarship in memory of Bobby Morgan.
Bobby was a member of the SAHS Class of 1974. He had worked in the oil field for a number of years and worked his way up to tool-pusher at Bandera Drilling in Abilene. He left there to go to work at the Exxon Station in Santa Anna where he was a mechanic. Later he worked for the City of Santa Anna and Coleman County Telephone Coop before going in business for himself when he opened up Morgan Time Machines restoring old cars and occasional mechanic work with sons Bo and Tyler, before he returned to the West Texas Oil Field as a consultant. Bobby loved Santa Anna and served on the City Council and Economic Development Board. Bobby was known for his meticulous work. He sought knowledge and would self-teach himself about things using books and later the Internet. Bobby had a way of doing things that everyone could tell he had done. His work had his signature. He built a house from a dream along with wife Michelle and the skills of RB Dillard. Michelle kept many children in their home and the Morgans were a big part of their childhoods in the eighties and nineties and those kids loved him and he loved them. Bobby passed away on December 20, 2010 at the age of 54.
Coleman County Telephone Coop provided prizes and auction items. Rob and Sharon Cheaney sponsored the Kids Hamburger Patty and Kool-Aid contests. Tye and Kellye Cope of Santa Anna Processing provided the hamburger patties for the Kids Hamburger Patty contest.
Over $5000 was raised through donations, sale of auction items, a Rib Throwdown Calcutta, and most of the winners giving back their winnings.
The Bobby Morgan Memorial Scholarship will be given to graduating Seniors of Santa Anna High School with a preference towards automotive trades students.
